A Peek into the heart of An Indian Bride
61New role is what I would take on
New Relationships will unfold now on
As his beloved I would wake up with every dawn.
Last night as his fiancee, new sunrise would see me as his wife
Tonight, let me embrace this place one more time
Place where I have grown up from being a li’ll girl to a b’ful bride
Let me see this place for one last time
Place where my dreams have grown
Where seeds of my future were sown
Place that witnessed my life and my laughter
Place that witnessed my pain and my tears
Place where I have learned to be ‘me’ in all this years
Collecting sands of this land
Reminding me of beautiful times I spent
Cherishing it everyday, my prayers I would send
Tomorrow I would fly shores away
From this ‘place’ I call “HOME”, I would be far away
But this is where part of ‘my being’ shall always stay.

Wow! I could feel the emotions of this poem; the better sweet feelings of excitement, anticipation and loss.
I love this poem.
Rated up!
I know this feeling as I love to be "HOME" all the time. Wonderfully expressed. UP and beautiful
Beautifully done vidhimayur.
Seldom does one cherish something more than when it is about to leave one's grasp.
Thanks for sharing your feelings. Do you still have arranged marriages? I am sure that that would require a considerable adjustment on the brides part. Your writing is very good. Please continue to share your experiences.
Very well expressed
thanks beautiful expresion
I know a woman from India who is still married 25 years after the arrangement. She says it has worked out "alright." She is an accounting director for a very large company so I guess I was really surprised to hear it was arranged. She said she didn't have much time to meet her fiance (less than one day? is this normal?) but I guess the fathers were comfortable with the deal. This is a nice poem for a situation that involves much hope and possibly fear of the unknown.

vidhimayur, I think your poem is most appropriately titled. While the bride welcomes her new life with her beloved, she is waxing nostalgic with reminiscences of the life she leaves behind. For it will forever remain a part of her identity. Even as she journeys from the land of her youth, a part of her remains. Beautiful sentiments! Regards, Robert
